Climate Variability and Global Warming

Global warming is the boost within the Earth’s oceans and near-surface air average temperature since the 20th century and its projected continuation. The global surface temperature increased to 0.74 ± 0.18 degrees Celsius or 1.33 ± 0.32 degrees Fahrenheit. The IPCC or the “intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change” concludes that almost all the temperature increased since the 20th century was caused by the increased concentration of various greenhouse gases that resulted from human activities such as deforestation and fossil fuel burning. In addition, the IPCC concludes that certain variations in natural calamities such as volcanism and solar radiation had small cooling effects after the 1950s. These rather basic conclusions are endorsed by over 40 academies and scientific societies of science including all of the major industrialized countries’ national academies of science.

Natural climate variability and global warming all contribute to climate change. Climate variability denotes the short-term changes in climate while climate change is considered as the long-term change in the Earth’s climate. Global warming is an effect of climate change. Due to the fossil fuel emissions on the Earth’s surface, numerous greenhouse gases are emitted thus having chemical reactions with the atmosphere especially the ozone layer. Further damage within the ozone layer can lead to serious skin diseases to humans and animals because of the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Numerous countries throughout the world to help stop further damage within the ozone layer now ban cFCs or “Chlorofluorocarbons”. This is also the reason why most manufacturers product CFC-free products to help promote environmentalism. Pollutants are also a main factor as to why our environment faces a lot of risks in the future.

Among the effects of global warming and climate change include the rise of sea levels, disruption of food supply leading to shortage and negative effects on human health. Today, there are a lot of programs that will cause awareness and environmentalism.
